Nari Sanhati, a women's rights organization, held a rally at Dhaka University's Soparjito Swadhinota Chattar on Friday, August 28, 2026, to announce a five-point charter of demands aimed at establishing women's dignity and rights in all spheres, from the household to parliament. The demands include ensuring 33 percent women lawmakers, launching affordable, quality daycare services nationwide by 2030, reinstating 60 percent women teachers in primary education, providing sanitary napkins at half price for schoolgoing girls, and implementing anti-sexual harassment laws effectively.

Addressing the rally, Nari Sanhati's central general secretary Aparajita Chanda alleged that flashy statistics are being used to obscure the real condition of women in Bangladesh and to sustain patriarchal, discriminatory structures, adding that the organization is launching a long-term campaign around these five demands. Central vice-president Taslima Akhter, a 2024 Rokeya Padak winner, said the demands were tied not only to women's equal dignity but also to broader social and economic interests. Ganosanghati Andolan's acting chief coordinator Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu called establishing women's civic dignity a key precondition for social and economic progress, urging political forces to join the movement. The rally, presided over by Nari Sanhati president Dr. Shyamoli Shil, drew participants from political parties, labor and women's rights organizations, farmer women's groups, and student bodies, including several speakers from allied organizations and civil society representatives.
